I am starting a new series, Social Redo,, where I look at one of my favorite brand’s social media platform, and what I would do to attract new audiences or better attract current ones. The Minnesota Wild have an incredibly dedicated fan base. We fight through the ups and downs that is Minnesota sports and still pack the home arena for each game. Yet, there is absolutely nothing wrong with growing it and bringing in a younger generation of fans.
Enter TikTok. The Wild currently have 191.2K followers and 1.8 million likes, which is by no means low. But other teams, like the Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs have upwards of 500K followers. Granted, both teams are a part of the original six teams of the NHL, but the Wild have 582K followers on Instagram, so they have the potential to increase their TikTok following. Here is what I would do to attract new fans using TikTok…
- Posting consistently and daily
- Participating in trends
- Asking questions after practice – bring back elevator questions from last season
- This or that
- Favorite taylor swift song – not just cause I am a swiftie. Taylor swift is taking the world by storm and she is a trend in her own right.
- What time players arrive before a game
- Day in the life of Nordy on game days
- Asking questions after practice – bring back elevator questions from last season
- Seeing the personalities of players
- Mic up players at more practices
- Bringing content from Instagram over
- They have so many post on instagram that would be great content for TikTok
- Fleury mic’d up at practice
- “It’s not weird, it’s wild”
- They have so many post on instagram that would be great content for TikTok
I will be a die hard Minnesota Wild fan until the day I die. This teams brings me so much joy, which is why I want to see them grow. I could think of so many ideas for how they can attract a wider fan base, so if the wild are ever looking for a new social media manager, I’m your girl.
